The KCC Foundation Diploma in Systemic Supervision

This is a one-year course designed for professionals qualified in systemic therapy with 2 years of post-qualifying experience who would like to develop their training, supervision and consultative skills to become a Systemic Supervisor.

The course covers a whole range of aspects of systemic supervision, including ethics, training, management and maintenance of professional standards. It is designed to comply with AFT requirements (the application for AFT accreditation will be made at the end of the first run of the course) and to lead to the award of the KCCF Diploma in Systemic Supervision.

Study sessions and workshops take place at KCCF itself; practical aspects of the training will be performed partly in KCCF and partly in the participant’s own setting or in a placement which is considered to provide the frameworks for a rich experience in supervising. At the beginning of the course the training coaches and course participants will plan where the practice of supervision will be carried out. This will involve discussions and consideration around what the best settings are for the trainee to gain the most useful experience of supervision-in-practice.

Course Structure...

The Course runs for ONE year, with intakes in each February and September. Students are required to attend the training programme of the course they are working on as a trainer. In addition there are 15 days each year of supervision training plus regular tutorials.

Entry Requirements...

Students must have successfully completed a qualification in Systemic Practice, Systemic Therapy or equivalent with 2 years of post qualifying experience and demonstrate their ongoing interest and involvement in this way of working. Course participants must be registered or be eligible to be registered as a systemic family psychotherapist with the UKCP. Selection will be by interview and references.
